National Farmworker Awareness Week (NFAW) is a week of action for students and  community members to raise awareness about farmworker issues on our campuses and in our communities. In 2022, we celebrate the 23rd Annual National Farmworker Awareness Week (and our 5th year hosting it at 蜜桃影像传媒有限公司网站) to raise awareness about farmworker conditions and to honor their important contributions to us every day.

Monday: 'Fruits of Labor' Documentary

To kick-off National Farmworkers Awareness Week, you are cordially invited to attend the viewing of the 'Fruits of Labor' Documentary (90 min) followed by critical discussion and dialogue.
'Fruits of Labor' follows the day-in-a-life of a young farm and factory worker in California, who dreams of being the first in her family to graduate from high school and go to college.

LONG SLEEVE SHIRT DRIVE

Collected shirts will be donated to help South 蜜桃影像传媒有限公司网站 farmworkers protect themselves against the dangers of sun and pesticide exposure. Shirts will be donated to The Migrant Farmworker Clinic in Lakepark, GA

Wednesday: BANDANA PROJECT & VOICES FROM THE FIELDS

The Bandana Project is a public awareness campaign aimed at addressing the issue of workplace sexual violence against farmworker women in the US. Join us and decorate white bandanas with words of encouragement, motivating statements, inspirational pictures, and art. These bandanas will be displayed at the College of Education and Human Services for the entire month of April in support of farmworker women and our commitment to ending this problem.

During this event, the CAMP students will be sharing a collection of stories, poems, essays, and drawings about their migrant and farmworking experience. Snacks will be provided.

  • Date and Location: March 30 from 11:30-1:30PM on the Student Union Outside Steps
  • Bandanas will be displayed at the College of Education and Human Services (2nd floor outside of CAMP office)

NATIONAL CESAR CHAVEZ BLOOD DRIVE CHALLENGE

The American Red Cross and the Migrant Students Foundation are partnering once again for the National Cesar E. Chavez Blood Drive Challenge. This challenge is in honor of the life and legacy of Cesar Chavez and dedicated to encouraging college students to promote health, education, health and science careers, civic engagement and saving lives. The National Cesar E. Chavez Blood Drive Challenge is a CAMP student-lead health service-learning initiative engaging both on- and off-campus community organizations & individuals.
