Tommy J. Crane is a Professor of Interior Design at Valdosta State University, where he has been teaching since 2012. He holds a Master of Fine Arts in Interior Design from Florida State University and a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from the University of Southern Mississippi. His professional credentials include NCIDQ certification, registration as an interior designer in 蜜桃影像传媒有限公司网站 and Florida, and accreditation as a LEED AP ID+C. 

Professor Crane teaches courses in design studios, history of interiors, lighting and building systems, construction and building regulations, internship, and professional practice. His teaching emphasizes sustainability, human-centered design, and preparing students for professional competency and licensure. 

His scholarship includes a forthcoming book chapter, “Defining Interior Design: A Profession with Complexity,” in The Routledge Handbook of Interior Architecture Research (Routledge, 2025). He regularly presents at academic conferences and serves as a consultant and site visitor for the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA). 

In addition to his academic work, Crane maintains an active design consulting practice and exhibits creative work in juried and non-juried shows. He is a recipient of the College of the Arts Excellence in Service Award (2023) and currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Valdosta Historic Preservation Commission.
