Statement of teaching and research interests:

In Dr. Davis' full-time work outside of teaching, he serve as Vice President for Institutional Advancement at D’Youville University. Dr. Davis daily work as an advancement professional is grounded in the very principles he teach—strategic leadership, ethical stewardship, stakeholder engagement, and mission-driven service. Dr. Davis teaching philosophy is deeply informed by this professional experience and by a firm belief that public administration and nonprofit management are not only disciplines to be studied, but callings that demand action, empathy, and innovation. In the online learning environment, Dr. Davis strives to create an academic experience that is relevant, relational, and rigorously connected to the real-world challenges and opportunities students will face in their careers.

Dr. Davis sees teaching as a form of leadership. Just as Dr. Davis guides teams and shape institutional strategy in his professional role, Dr. Davis sees his students as emerging leaders who must be equipped with the tools, mindset, and moral compass to create meaningful change. Dr. Davis goal is to bridge theory with practice. Dr.Davis challenge students to not only master foundational concepts—such as governance models, performance measurement, resource development, and policy implementation—but to apply them to scenarios drawn from current public and nonprofit contexts.
